Activities On Farm
For the ultimate farmstay experience you can opt in or out of taking on all the farming duties of the farm for the duration of your stay. Farming duties include:
1) feeding the pigs, sheep, chickens and ducks
2) collecting the eggs and either eating them or taking them home with you
3) letting out the sheep and poultry of a morning and locking them up at night
4) collecting and splitting firewood
5) checking the water troughs of the animals including the horses and cows.
Few farmstays offer this much immersion and freedom in a real working farm setting. And if all this sounds too much at anytime you can simply opt out and let the onsite caretakers do it all.
Other on farm activities include, bush walks, birdwatching, spotlighting, swimming and playing in the river.
Activities Off Farm
Darlington Grove is located in the Scenic Rim Queensland. A little over an hour from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The activities immediately surrounding the farm include bushwalking and swimming in Lamington National Park. O’Rielly’s Rainforest Retreat and Mount Tamborine are close by and offer great day trip options. There are also two great cafes in the area (Christmas Creek Cafe and The Shed Cafe at Rathdowney).
Eat Locals week is another highlight of the region that celebrates the food, farmers and natural beauty of the Scenic Rim through a program of festivals, farm gate events and culinary experiences. More info on that event can be found here www.eatlocalweek.com.au
